Signs to Go to the Emergency Room After Taking the Abortion Pill
Bleeding and cramping are expected after taking the abortion pill (mifepristone and misoprostol), but some symptoms require immediate medical attention.
Go to the emergency room right away if you:
- Soak through two or more maxi pads for two consecutive hours
- Are not bleeding within 24 hours after taking misoprostol
- Have severe pain that doesn’t improve with pain medication
- Develop a fever of 100.4°F or higher for more than 24 hours after taking misoprostol
- Notice foul-smelling vaginal discharge
